Introduction

Every household needs a home that is habitable in order to prosper. The majority of Indonesian people meet their housing needs independently, specifically 57.87% in urban areas and 74.51% in rural areas (BPS, 2004). Every year 800,000 new units are needed, but the demand has not yet been balanced by the supply. Inequality is felt the most by low-income communities, and it is exacerbated by a lack of access to adequate housing resources. Financial constraints, lack of legal access, limited support mechanisms, and limited technical knowledge also contribute to this problem.

HRC aims to reduce this gap. With our role as an intermediary force in the development of integrative synergy between housing and urban resources, HRC tries to answer the needs of low-income people by becoming a competent housing agency and supporting the interests of various stakeholders.

HRC participates in many activities, but focuses on the development of knowledge (basic and applied research, visioning, and policy studies). We pay great attention to capacity building, providing assistance with the building of organizations and individuals. In technical terms, HRC accommodates the needs of people, organizations, and governments through a mentoring consultancy, planning, and the transfer of knowledge both through the community and in the form of information dissemination.

We are committed to serving the needs of the people by providing housing and urban structuring that is healthy, livable, affordable, and sustainable. Therefore, we hope that people can take advantage of what HRC offers. We continue to improve our performance in order to receive the full confidence of the public and various stakeholders, and in order to develop HRC into an innovative institution that is a leader in the field of housing.
